The ultimate event for the competitive and versatile athlete is waiting for you! Sponsored by the Knoxville Leadership Foundation, this annual two, three, or four-member team competition for males and females will be a great way for you to showcase your skills while challenging your friends, business competitors or family for bragging rights. Consisting of eight different athletic challenges, this action-packed event will soon crown one illustrious team the coveted champion of the 3rd Annual Gladiator Games. This year's games include a parent/child division (a child is any individual between the ages of 11 and 17) and the inclusion of an obstacle course event!

GENERAL INFORMATION

DATE: Saturday, August 9, 2008, from 8:00 AM to 1:00 PM (registration starts at 7:30 AM at West Hills Gazebo).

WHERE: West Hills Park and YMCA (map and directions)

WHY: Fundraiser for Knoxville Leadership Foundation and "bragging rights" as champion of the Gladiator Games.

WHAT: A team-based athletic competition for anyone age 11 and up.

TEAM: Two, three, or four persons competitive or parent-child division (a child is an individual aged 11-17).

COST: $100 per team member (19 years-old and up) or $75 (individuals aged 11 to 18). This tax-deductible entry fee includes a Gladiator Games t-shirt for each athlete, prizes, breakfast and lunch.

PRIZES:

1st Place – Ultimate Sports Package, including trophy, SEC Championship tickets, weight equipmet, and more.

1st Place (Parent/Child Division) – UT sport tickets, weight equipment, and prizes.

2nd Place – Local retail + restaurant package.

3rd Place – Local retail + restaurant package.

Last Place – Loser package.

RULES

PARTICIPATION: You must be 11 or older to participate. Each team must have two, three, or four members. Each team member must compete in at least two events. All team members must sign a medical release form.

Statement of activities and Medical release form:
minors (age 20 and under) | adults (age 21 and older)

POINTS: All events will have a point value assigned to them based on order of finish (eg., 1 point for 1st place, 67 points for 67th place). The team with the least amount of points at the end of the eight events will win the grand prize and be crowned champion.


EVENT SCHEDULE

7:30 AM   Registration and breakfast at West Hills Park.

8:00 AM

Obstacle Course – Two team members compete in a timed 4-challenge event based on agility and speed.

Basketball – Two team members participate in a shooting contest consisting of free throws and 3-point shots.

Golf – Two team members will participate in a closest-to-the pin contest.

Swimming – A timed 100 meter freestyle two-man relay at the YMCA outdoor pool. Two team members swim 50 meters. Ranking based on lowest times.

Weightlifting – Using a lower range weight amount, one team member will compete in an event that will test the stamina and strength of the competitor.

Baseball - A throwing accuracy contest that will involve two team members. Approximately 20 throws at targets of varying yardage lengths and point values.

Football – A punt and pass contest for two team members that will add the length of one punt and one pass of both athletes.

Running – A one-mile two-man relay where each member runs approximately 1/2 mile.

12:30 PM   Lunch and awards ceremony.

: Only 1 team member per team needs to register below. Your teammate’s information will be collected at a different time. Also, upon registration you will be mailed an invoice for the $100 team registration fee (the rate for students 11-17 is $75).
